Don Mussie Zerai

We are very concerned about the fate of the 68 Eritrean refugees, women, children, late afternoon yesterday, we were told that they left Friday night around 22:00 hours from Tripoli. The person on the phone referring to the imminent danger from lack of food and water, the little fuel available to the risk of standing still at the mercy of the sea. Latest news gave about 60 miles from the Libyan coast, in international waters that no attempt to intervene. We call on NATO ships in the area to do everything possible to verify the actual conditions of these refugees and to safety. Let reason prevail over humanitarian ones bureaucratic policies that impede a possible intervention in international waters, even the responsibility, "the Libyan" in this tragic time any Libyan authorities respond to this emergency at sea. We ask in Frontex commitments beyond its resources at this time of emergency to save lives, the European Parliament provides more emergency vehicles to address this humanitarian crisis. We must seek solutions to overcome this critical stage of a project planned evacuation from the areas of refugee crisis in fleeing war and persecution as in the case of Sub-Saharan Africans in Libya. Need an opening of a humanitarian corridor in Libya that allowed for evacuation of refugees trapped in Tripoli, to avoid the risk of those who at this moment are risking their lives at sea. Also avoid the traffic of human beings at this time is taking advantage of all the crises in North Africa to earn the skin of the desperate. Fr. Mussie Zerai
