As growing numbers of people in Egypt and across the Middle East and North Africa region stand up for their basic human rights, we must show that we stand with them. We have called a global day of action on Saturday 12 February in solidarity with the protestors and in defiance of those who try to deny their rights.
Even if rumours that President Mubarak will stand down tonight are true we still need to demonstrate our solidarity with the protestors. They have been clear that their struggle is about more than just one man, it is about demanding an end to repression, and an Egyptian Government that respects and protects the human rights of the Egyptian people.
Join us in Trafalgar Square, London from midday until 2pm for a mass public demonstration. The event will feature music and speakers including Salil Shetty, Amnesty International Secretary General, trade unions and other partner organisations, plus youth activists from the Middle East and North Africa region. For those of you who can't make it to London you can show solidarity by adding your photo to our online gallery.
Please be there on Saturday. Kristyan Benedict Campaign Manager - Crisis Response & Country Priorities
